Catherine (Cathy) Geldard is a fiddle player and composer from the Shetland Islands now based in the North East of England. She graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Folk music and followed that with a Mmus in performance and composition in 2010. Catherine has been working as a professional musician and composer ever since both as a soloist and in various ensembles across the North East and beyond.

 

Catherine is also in high demand as a fiddle tutor, working both within schools and privately. She works with the Northern Music Centre, Newcastle Music service and the Northumberland Church of England Academy providing violin and fiddle lessons to students across the North East. More recently she has taken on running school Ceilidh Bands at Newcastle Royal Grammar School and Dame Allens.
