Catherine has been performing from a very young age, her first band was formed with her friends when she was 12. She released her first album with the band NE3Folk in 2016, Show Us Your Reds after several successful tours in Norway. Keeping her links to Shetland alive is her involvement as vice band lead with Hjaltibonhoga a growing community fiddle group focusing on Shetland music. She has performed at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo each year from 2014 to 2023 and has participated in a variety of their worldwide tours. In 2019 alone she travelled to Australia, Switzerland, Germany and Shanghai. In 2022 and 2023 she performed in a central role of the Electro Pipes set along with fellow fiddler Margaret Robertson.

Catherine has now joined the Monster Ceilidh Band in a dual role of fiddler and caller. They perform at festivals and private events across the country with their high energy ceilidh set.

Her newest project is all female quartet RE:VULVA along side Amy Thatcher, Holly Clarke and Janice Burns. They are a band with a mission to address the gender imbalance in the folk scene today by celebrating all things female, millennial and playing some banging tunes. Their single, Girls and their Toys, has just been released across all music streaming platforms.

In addition to folk music she can also be seen performing with Southern Inc playing American Southern rock at venues and festivals across the UK and with Needles and Pins, a band fronted by keyboard player and songwriter James Clarke.

On the composition side of things, Catherine recently completed a commission from Golden Dagger winning author Ann Cleeves. Catherine’s composition, A Tune for Jimmy Perez, celebrated the publication of Cleeves’ final novel in the Shetland series of novels, Wildfire.
